On this edition of the weekly buff, we have the brand new RAM RHO that is replacing, for the time being, the TRX. This truck has a V6 twin-turbo motor putting out 540 HP, making it no slouch in comparison.
This one initially came in for PPF and ceramic coating, but after going over the truck and inspecting the paint, it clearly showed marring and haze that needed to be corrected before we applied coating to the finish. Jr and Josh began the correction process, first with our EVO 800 Heavy cut along with a microfiber pad, and following it up with our EVO 3000 finishing polish and a 100ppi foam pad.
Once the correction was complete, Jon began the process of removing trim on the hood to ensure that we could provide a seamless PPF install. We installed PPF on the hood, fenders, bumper, headlights, and mirrors to prevent rock chips and damage from road debris.
The final step was to ceramic coat the entire truck. We used our EVO 9H ceramic coating on the entire paint finish and PPF, and then applied our EVO Plastic Renew & Protect to the entirety of the plastic trim to keep it black and prevent fading to white or gray. We also applied our EVO Wheel & Caliper coating to the wheel face and EVO Glass Coating to the exterior glass. Once the truck was complete, the owner loved the outcome and ended up even getting a rebate from the dealer for delivering it in that condition, which was great.
This build shows why correction, PPF, and ceramic coating work best as a package. Correcting the paint first meant the truck gained real gloss and clarity, not just protection over existing flaws. PPF on the high-impact areas guards against rock chips and road debris, while the EVO 9H ceramic coating adds UV protection and an easier-to-maintain finish. Rounding it out with Plastic Renew & Protect, Wheel & Caliper coating, and Glass Coating means the whole vehicle is covered, inside and out. And as this owner found out, keeping a vehicle in top shape can even pay off in real dollars.
