On this edition of the weekly buff, we have a beautiful 1986 Porsche 911 that came to us in rough shape. The owner, Shar, is a friend who owns local cigar lounges among other ventures. He wanted it to look as close to brand new without having to repaint the vehicle, but with plenty of scratches, swirls, and old imperfections that needed to be removed, we knew it would be a tough task.
The first thing, as always in the shop, is a full prep wash with our EVO Foam shampoo, a green mild clay bar to remove anything abrasive that may have been on the paint from years of driving. Once that was complete, the crew began the paint correction process using a 2-step paint correction process to remove all the swirls and scratches that had appeared over 20+ years of driving. The first step in the process was a yellow wool pad along with 800 Heavy cut, then a microfiber pad and 2000 cut finishing polish, and finally a foam pad and 3000 finishing polish to leave a perfect finish before PPF.
